391 derives its title and imagery from cadastral parcel number 391 in Taichung's Heping District, using the delineation of land as a point of departure to explore the entanglements among migration, ethnicity, economy, and political structures. Constructed from natural plants, agricultural crops, and various objects, the work takes shape as a series of “portrait-like totems,” segmented by arrangements of toxic plants. Positioned along the contours of plot 391, these configurations invite viewers to enter the space and observe from elevated perspectives, prompting a reconsideration of boundaries and the ways they are formed and perceived.
